The DMZ was created in July 1954 in accordance with the Geneva Accords, which put an end to the war between the Vietnam People’s Army forces and the French Union forces. The zone includes two parts extending 5km from the north and south banks of Ben Hai River (Hien Luong River or Parallel 17) and runs around 100 km from South China Sea coast to the west border with Laos. The Parallel 17 first served as a “provisional military demarcation line” between two parts of the country until the end of the Vietnam War in 1975.

* B (Breakfast), L (Lunch), D (Dinner) Collapse All

7.30 AM: depart from your hotel in Hue to DMZ. On the way, visit Quang Tri citadel, where in 1972 a fierce battle raged for 81 days. Start to visit the ancient battle fields Khe Sanh on the historic Road 9 linking with Laos and historic sites such as The Rockpile, the Ho Chi Minh Trail, Ta Con Airfield and also visit Van Kieu ethnic minorities people in the Central of Vietnam.

You will then proceed to the amazing tunnels of Vinh Moc, which remain untouched after many years. This network offers us an authentic view of underground life of the Viet Cong and the villagers of Vinh Linh during the U.S.-Vietnam War.

During the war, people lived in here, men and women fell in love, got married, and had babies here, children were educated in the dark narrow passageways, and wounded soldiers were cared for and nurtured back to health. Return to Hue in the late afternoon with a stop at Quang Tri Citadel.

    • A sturdy pair of walking shoes or sneakers is recommended for sightseeing.
    • Waterproof shoes or sandals, a swimsuit, sunscreen, and insect repellent are recommended for outdoor activities.
    • It is preferable not to visit temples or other religious sites with bare legs and shoulders (and entrance may be denied on this basis).

    • You can buy 4G data simcard at the airport, the price is very low.

  • Currency

    • You will use the Vietnamese dong in Vietnam, Cambodian riel (or U.S. dollars) in Cambodia, and the Kip(Lak) in Laos.
    • In Cambodia, U.S. dollars are accepted everywhere, though change may be given in riel. Most hotels, restaurants, shops, taxis, buses, and airlines list their prices in U.S. dollars, but small transactions (less than a dollar) are usually conducted in riel. Always carry small amounts of riel for motorcycle taxis, snacks, and other small purchases.
    • Better rates of exchange are usually available overseas, although it’s worth ordering some currency from your local bank to use when you first arrive.
    • We strongly advise that you take debit/bank cards and credit cards, which can be used to withdraw cash at local banks as needed.
    • You can use most debit/credit cards at ATMs on the international networks Cirrus and Plus, but make sure to check with your home bank about withdrawal fees.
    • International banks and businesses primarily accept debit and credit cards that work with the EMV chip system. If you do not already have at least one debit or credit card with a chip in it, we strongly recommend requesting one from your bank prior to your tour.

  • Tipping

    • At the conclusion of your tour, it’s customary to offer your tour guide and driver a gratuity in local currency. Please keep current exchange rates in mind.
    • We recommend tipping the equivalent of $10USD to $15USD per day for your tour guide and the equivalent of $5USD to $10USD per day for your driver.
    • Tips can only be paid in cash.
